Vijayawada: Kakinada Smart City (KSC) won the prestigious \lndian Smart City
Award 2022′ in sanitation category. Kakinada is the only city from the state
that bagged award at the national level. Kakinada city’s innovative sanitation
initiatives helped it bag the prestigious award as the Centre recognized its
contribution to health and sustainability.
“Kakinada Smart City has emerged as a beacon of excellence in the realm of
urban sanitation, securing the 11 rank across India in the prestigious ‘Indian
Smart City Award 2022′ in the sanitation category.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Indore on September 27,
said special chief secretary (municipal administration and urban development)
Y Srilakshmi.
She said the Indian smart city awards, a highly competitive annual event, aims
to recognize the most outstanding projects and initiatives undertaken by smart
cities across the country.
Kakinada smart city CEO and municipal commissioner Ch Naga Narasimha Rao
said the national award underscores city’s journey towards becoming a model
smart city where sustainable urban practices are seamlessly integrated into the
daily lives of its citizens.
